Join Canaan Valley Ski Resort March 7th and 8th for a family fun filled weekend as well as two days of competitive ski racing. 2020 is the 60th anniversary of the West Virginia's Governors Cup Ski Race. Which happens to be the southeast's oldest running ski to race! With this historic weekend, the Winter Carnival makes it's long awaited return to Canaan Valley Ski Resort. A third event, the Sunrise Scramble - Uphill Ski Race is being hosted by the Canaan Valley Foundation on Sunday morning.

Ski racing at it's finest sees two days of racing Slalom and Giant Slalom courses set on Ramble race course. With the combined men and women's winners after two days of racing being awarded WV made glass trophies and prizes. The winners names will also be added to the 60 year old governors cup trophy. This event is open to anyone who would like to participate.

Winter Carnival is the return of a long ago event in Canaan Valley that included square dances and crowning of a queen. The 2020 Winter Carnival is more informal and geared to the family. Saturday and Sunday events will be held on the plaza outside of Quenchers Pub with registration in the Bear Paw Lodge.

Start the day right Sunday morning with the Sunrise Scramble. A timed cross country ski to the top of Cabin Mountain and Canaan Valley Ski Resort. This type of racing is great competition for the core racer, while participant friendly for the "average Joe". Seriously one of the most fun, easy going events to participate in.
