Douglas Falls/Blackwater River Canyon Hike

Date: September 5
Join us for a 10 mile hike starting off at the abandoned coke ovens by Douglas Falls, then through the junction of North Fork Blackwater River and the main river, across from Lindy Point. We will hike down the canyon through mixed hardwood forest. Spectacular views of the canyon and the river will be seen along this hike. Easy walking trail, but no way out once started. Please bring food, snacks, and plenty of water. A shuttle will be provided at Canaan Valley Resort to the coke ovens leaving at 9am. Hick Festival
4-H Camp Kidd

46th Annual Hick Festival will be held at Tucker County 4-H Camp Kidd located between Parsons and St. George, WV. Free admissions to the festival but donationas are appreciated.

Bring your collectibles out to be appraised at our Appraisal Show, where various appraisers will be on hand to share with you the worth of your valuables. Astronomy Weekend
Blackwater Falls State Park

Culinary University - Fabrication of Fish
Canaan Valley Resort State Park
Date: September 19
Spend the afternoon with Executive Chef Nemat Odeh as he conducts a culinary class featuring basic skills and cooking techniques for preparing fish. This demonstration will teach you how to breakdown a whole Salmon and Red Snapper, plus explain how to utilize each part of the fish with a variety of cooking methods, for different presentations and entree dishes. You will lelarn how to cook with several spices and seasonings, plus cooking Salmon in phyllo dough.
