Wood Carving Weekend
Blackwater Falls State Park

Wood carver Nate Parr, will be at Blackwater Falls for three sessions of various stages of wood carving: using soap to demonstrate techniques, hand/knife carving, and larger wood carving using a chainsaw. Nate Parr’s work is exhibited and for sale at MountainMade.com.
Pre-registration is recommended. There is a $10 activity fee per session.

Birds of Canaan Valley: Spring 2009 Walks
Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center
Date: April 25 starting at 7am
They (birds) are active in our woods, fields and wetlands. Birds are flying from their winter home to their summer residence, where they begin mating and preparing to raise young. Join volunteer Casey Rucker for a spring bird walk. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking boots or shoes. Bring binoculars or use a pair of ours. Carry water if desired. Migration brings us birds that we don't find here other times of the year. Come, learn about them. The program is free and will last about 2-3 hours. It is co-sponsored by the Refuge and the Friends of the 500th.
A Country Music Murder Mystery – Dinner Theater

The three Bodine Sisters are ready to hit the road. Join them as they present their farewell concert before leaving to seek fame and fortune. But will there be more than music in the air? A murder will be committed and you are needed to help solve the crime. Overnight package includes overnight room, dinner and theater who-dun-it. Package rate: $175 per package double occupancy. Reservation required. $40.00 per person, dinner and the treater presentation. 6PM
